HOGAN, Dr. Joseph C., Jr. 72, of Belmont, passed away on May 22, 2014 at Mt. Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Born in Everett, Dr. Hogan was the son of the late Joseph C. and Julia (Rich) Hogan. He was the beloved husband of Anne (Maurer) Hogan for fifty-one years. Devoted father of Elizabeth A. Hogan and her husband Andrew W. Standeven of Medford, Joseph C. Hogan III and his wife, Maureen of Stow, Matthew J. Hogan and his wife Deborah of Lexington, Rebecca A. Weiler and her husband Ted of Lexington, Rachel A. Hogan of Belmont, and the late John Hogan. Grandfather of Joshua, Lydia and Phoebe Hogan, Victoria, Augustus and Winnie Standeven, Matthew, Nicholas, Timothy and Katie Hogan, and Joseph and Adelaide Weiler. Brother of Atty. Frances X. Hogan of Everett and the late Richard D. Hogan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dr. Hogan received his Bachelor of Science degree (1962) and Master of Science in Chemistry (1966) from Boston College and his Ph.D. in Chemistry (1969) from Boston College and the Max-Planck-Institut fur Kohlenforschung, Mulheim an der Ruhr, Germany. He worked for many years alongside Dr. Edwin Land at Polaroid Corporation, and was Director of Research and Development at Water's Corporation, Chromatography Division as well as Director of Research and Development at Millipore. He was Founder, Chairman of the Board and Chief Scientific Officer of Arqule, Inc., as well as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Anthill Technologies in Woburn, Massachusetts. A Visiting Professor at Brandeis University, Dr. Hogan was also known for his philanthropic work, including the establishment of the Baby John Fund. Dr. Hogan was the inventor of 16 patents; some of which are fundamental in the field of modern Chemistry. He also published numerous papers and contributed to scientific journals over the years. A funeral mass will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church, Watertown, on Wednesday, May 28th at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. SARABIA, Mary E. (Landry) 94, a resident of Wakefield formerly from Everett passed away at home on May 17. Mary was born in Boston on November 19, 1919 one of six children of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Hennessy) Landry. Mary grew up in Everett and graduated from Everett High School. Mary 's most important job and proudest accomplishment in life was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Jose Jr.who predeceased her in 2007. Mary was loving mother of Richard of WI, Linda Garvin of Wakefield, Robert of NC, John of Billerica, Marguerite Flannery of Weymouth, Diane Sarabia DiPietrantonio of Scituate and Elizabeth Sarabia of Hingham. She was the sister of Elaine Landry of Groveland, Elizabeth Wysocki of Peabody and the late John, Barbara Jean and Catherine Moore. Mary is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mary will be missed by so many people. She will always be remembered as a strong and courageous woman, but most important as a loving and caring wife, mother, friend and all those that she met along the way. Funeral will be on Wednesday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church at 9:30am with Reverend Gerald Osterman officiating. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4 to 8pm. Interment at the National Cemetery at Bourne.

Cherished grandfather of Caryn Dunn of New Hampshire, Danielle and Jeff Melo of Maine. Cherished great grandfather of Ronin and Liam Keating of New Hampshire. Loving brother of Muriel Hurley and Eileen Zimmerman of Everett, and the late Allen, Frank, J. Kevin Dunn, and Winifred Grace. Born in Malden, George lived in Everett for many, many years before moving to Fleming Island, Florida. A graduate of Melrose High School, George earned his undergraduate degree from Boston College; his master's degree from Boston State College; and did graduate studies at Boston State College and Salem State University. He retired in 1989 from teaching. Beloved husband of Antonetta N. (Cardillo) for over 67 years. Dear and devoted father of Georganna E. Harvey of Fleming Island, FL and Richard S. Edwards of Everett. Brother of the late Richard S. and Theodore Edwards. Loving grandfather of Anne Marie Harvey, Danielle Harvey Irwin, Jennifer Edwards, Lorri Edwards, Richard S. Edwards, Jr. and Colleen Harvey Hanrahan and great-grandfather of 2 loving great-grandchildren.
